King of Cambodia Hosts Royal Audience for Chinese Foreign Minister

PHNOM PENH, April 22, 2024 — King Norodom Sihamoni of Cambodia welcomed Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China, Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, for a royal audience at the Royal Palace in Phnom Penh.

Wang Yi arrived in Phnom Penh on the afternoon of April 21, for a three-day official visit to Cambodia, lasting from April 21 to April 23.

During his stay, Wang Yi is scheduled to meet several top Cambodian officials, including Senate President Hun Sen and Prime Minister Hun Manet. Additionally, he will co-chair the Seventh Cambodia-China Intergovernmental Coordination Committee Meeting with Sun Chanthol, First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia.

Further engagements include bilateral discussions with Foreign Minister Sok Chenda Sophea to explore avenues for enhancing the robust and multifaceted bilateral relationship between Cambodia and China.

This visit is particularly significant as it aligns with the Cambodia-China People-to-People Exchange Year, aiming to fortify the longstanding friendship and Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of Cooperation between the two nations. Discussions will cover the advancement of the high-quality, high-level Community with a Shared Future, promotion of the Diamond Cooperation framework, and boosting collaboration across various regional and international arenas, all intended to yield mutual benefits for both countries and their peoples.
